Even Tim Tebow Cannot Save Jacksonville

A recent poll of Jacksonville Jaguars fans shows that the majority are against drafting former Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow in the upcoming NFL Draft.  Tebow, considered to be a question mark as a future NFL play-caller, has been often linked to the Jaguars as the team looks for a marketing ploy to get fans back in the seats of Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.

Wayne Weaver, the owner of the Jaguars likely saw Tebow as way to actually get his team on the local television stations.  In 2009, the Jags had multiple games subject to blackout restrictions.  There have been rumors about the team possibly moving to Los Angeles.

"The game is such an important part of this community, and [Tim] Tebow is such an iconic figure that people would legitimately think, 'Wouldn't it be great if he was a Jaguar,'" Weaver said last fall. "Clearly there's going to be a groundswell for Tebow, and we'll have to make that evaluation if we have a draft pick that's going to be anywhere near him."

Despite all of his efforts on CBS, It appears that fans are not buying into Thom Brennaman's beliefs that all of those who come in contact with Tebow wind up having their lives improved.  Instead, they are apparently opting for more of a sure-bet, high-impact player that can help get the team back in the playoff mix.

The Jaguars currently have the 10th overall selection in the upcoming NFL Draft.  Unfortunately, they traded away their second-round pick to the New England Patriots last year. To add insult to injury, Scout.com's latest mock draft has Tebow going 53rd overall (round two, pick 21) to...

...the New England Patriots.  Not exactly the best planning for a team looking to make an impact on draft day.

But, good news for Jaguars fans - at least those that voiced their opinion - is that last year's trade may allow their favorite team to avoid Tebow completely.
