Wildcat 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago  Mojo:
The Wildcat has been an integral part of the Dolphins offense the last two years. I wonder how long that will continue. They have athletic players however I feel like that will run its course in time. I also think that if they made a few tweaks to the formation it could be around a while. My main issue being the QB put at WR near the sideline. This is a huge disadvantage. That player can essentially be ignored giving the defense a man advantage. Instead put another RB/WR there and add a new dimension to the formation. What do you guys think?

That's a good point about the QB being split out, the problem is you can't swing it out to him because he could get killed. So like you said he is basically a non-factor in the play. I think if you have a QB that is athletic enough to throw the ball to at least occasionally, then the wildcat can be really effective. Although the Dolphins run it the best and they don't have a QB that they would be willing to throw it to.

The other thing that the Dolphins have is Pat White, so they have three perfect Wildcat QB's in Brown, Williams and White. If White was a starting QB, he would be great to split out when the Dolphins went to the Wildcat formation. One other thing is that Henne showed some promise last year and I'm thinking we may see the Wildcat less from the Dolphins because they will be more comfortable throwing the football.

Looks like the Dolphins aren't the hottest thing in Miami with the threesome on the basketball court. How does Brandon Marshall play into the Wildcat? Is he another piece or simply a decoy? Or is this the beginning of the fade of the formation?
